The Duke's Message

Ralph Percy 12th Duke of Northumberland

“Welcome to the Syon Park website which contains a wealth of information about Syon House, the Great Conservatory, the park and gardens and the treasures within it all. It has been in my family for over 400 years and it had a turbulent history, particularly in the sixteenth century when Henry V’s monastery was dissolved and destroyed by Henry VIII, one of the priests brutally executed, the existing house being built afterwards by ‘Protector’ Somerset who was himself executed and followed onto the scaffold by subsequent Syon residents, the Duke of Northumberland and Lady Jane Grey.

Syon is more peaceful now, an oasis of countryside near London with an unbroken Capability Brown landscape stretching across the Thames to Kew Gardens. It is open to the public, to roam the grounds or view the stunning Robert Adam interiors, the Van Dycks and other great works of art and it is perfect for filming, weddings, parties and corporate events. Perfectly placed between Heathrow and Central London, we can offer a wide range of facilities which are further enhanced by our partnership with the sumptuous London Syon Park Hotel which lies within the grounds”.
