Leading off the West Corridor the Staircase serves the upstairs bedrooms. In the well is the enormous Sèvres vase given by the King of France, Charles X, to the 3rd Duke, who attended his coronation in 1825 as Great Britain’s Ambassador Extraordinary. The sedan chair bears the arms of the 1st Duke.
