It has been used as the family’s dining room since Robert Adam remodelled the house. Much of the furniture including the mahogany extending table dates from the early 19th century, the mahogany pedestals were made in around 1770. The spectacular gilt-brass waterfall chandelier was made by William Collins in 1825 and was designed for the Glass Drawing Room of Northumberland House. The charming family group of the 2nd Duke’s children painted by Gilbert Stuart, in the summer of 1787, hangs above the fireplace.
