This wing contains the principal suite of State bedrooms; furnished by Robert Hughes in 1832 for the use of the young Princess Victoria (later Queen) and her mother the Duchess of Kent. The gilt wood four poster bed in this room dates from 1790 but was substantially altered by Hughes, who added a footboard, new cornices and tester together with hangings of ‘blue silk taberet’.
